Objective:

AS A PC YOU HAVE A VERY IMPORTANT JOB, PCs WIN ELECTIONS. 

Your role as a precinct committeeperson is an essential piece of every election. As a PC you are the neighborhood voice of the party. This being said it is very important that as a PC you attend MCDP events and trainings, but what’s more important is that you know your neighbors and the precinct. You are the ambassodor of the Marion County Democratic Party within your community. And if we expect democrats to win we need you to truly represent the needs of your community to the party, and the needs of the party to your community.

Duties:

Year Round

1. Canvassing:

   1. Knock doors/Call thru your precinct at least once every 2 months

   2. Contact members of groups you belong to and register them to vote, either in person or online

   3. Get to know your Democratic and Independent neighbors:

      1. Identify and activate Neighborhood/Block

      2. Captains to host house parties, fireside chats, community conversations etc. within your party Invite Candidates/Elected Officials to house parties

      3. During calls and canvassing update Voter Registrations (Name/Address/Turning 18)

2. Party Building

   1. Participate in district/county Democratic Party meetings, events, and activities including providing assistance to your local Democratic Party by staffing registration drives and tables, supporting local candidates, and taking part in local fundraising efforts. Eligible precinct committeepersons may also be called upon to vote in a Party caucus to fill a ballot or office vacancy.

   2. Registering Voters

      1. Meet your new neighbors and make sure they are registered to vote Additional duties as assigned

Elections

1. Continue to Build Democratic Base

   1. Be a visibly proud Indiana Democrat - display yard signs, window signs, campaign buttons, bumper stickers

   2. Recruit volunteers within your precinct

2. Help to elect Democrats

   1. Engage in all GOTV efforts Distribute Party and candidate literature through door-to-door canvassing.

   2. Activate Neighborhood/Block Captains to host house parties

      1. Invite Candidates to house parties Host meeting connecting Neighborhood/Block captains directly to candidates

      2. Engage with MCDP Phonebanks and Canvasses Attend and Recruit volunteers Phonebanks Canvassing
